My apologies for barging in to your forum, but I am trying to (remotely) provide support to an elderly (non-technical) family in Antwerp, who need to contact family all around the world.

My usual suggestion for VoIP is for a Siemens Gigaset plugged in to a regular (DSL) Router. However I have just found out that they have the FritzBox 7360, which I believe is already configured for VoIP? They appear to have an ADSL2+ /CityLine service.

My first question is:
Can the FritzBox register to 2 or more SIP providers (the manual has very few pictures).
If not, is it possible to create a 'peering' arrangement (inbound SIP) to the telecom/ISP's SIP server?
Are these SIP credentials readily available or hidden from the FritzBox user.

I don't have the provider name yet, not have the login details to the Router, but will have more information soon.

Many thanks,

You are talking about provider Dommel http://www.dommel.be, and yes you can have up to 10 SIP accounts with the Fritzbox.

Edit: They can register in the Fritzbox to myfritz.net service so you can access it over the net.

ADSL2+ /CityLine service is supplied by Belgian ISP "Dommel":
http://www.dommel.be/section/cityconnec ... ellen.html

To answer your questions:
  • 1) It is possible in the FritzBox to create multiple SIP accounts (up to 20).
    2) inbound peering: I don't think Dommel allows inbound SIP calls.
    3) SIP credentials (phone number, username, sip server) are not hidden from the FritzBox user, apart from the password.
However the FritzBox allows incoming SIP calls on port 5060
syntax = sip:<number>@myfritzbox.dyndns.org where
  • - <number> = any of the registered internet telephony numbers
    - myfritzbox.dyndns.org = the dyn. domainname of the FritzBox (needed because of the dynamic public IP)
Trust this helps ...

Thank you very much, this really helps.

I will register the additional SIP providers to the FritzBox and receive DID for UK & US. I think outbound is free, so that makes it a pretty simple setup.

Really appreciate your support, thank you again.

I can confirm that this is the Dommel service.

I have successfully logged in to the FritzBox and added a second telephone number.

Th number shows registered on the device and on the provider's web page (Sipgate), but all inbound calls receive a 'busy' signal.

I can't find any advanced options for port forwarding or changing SIP ports on the Fritz, I think firmware is 6.06. Any suggestions?

Thank you again.

No need to change ports
Just make sure the Telephony devices in the FritzBox (e.g. FON1, DECT, IP Phones) are set-up to ring on the incoming Sipgate line.
  • * activate "Advanced view"
    * go to Telephony > Telephony devices > Edit > Incoming calls
    * select the Sipgate account (from the drop-down list) or tick "react to all numbers"

Perfect, I knew I had missed something, I was just not familiar with the Fritz options.

Thank you again.
