High-definition television: Belgacom TV offer further expanded

On 14 April of this year, Belgacom TV launched its high-definition television offer: videos on demand and seven TV channels in high definition (HD, with razor-sharp image and excellent sound quality). The offer now consists of 14 channels, including the vtm programs.

Thanks to HD, viewers were able to benefit from larger, sharper, clearer images and better sound quality during the Olympic Games.

Belgacom TV in high definition: the offering

Six months ago, Belgacom TV launched its high definition offer, with image quality five times sharper than the current digital television image and excellent sound quality.

Belgacom TV's HD offer consists of television channels and video on demand.

Six months ago, Belgacom TV started off with seven TV channels in its HD package: Discovery, Disney Cinemagic, Exqi, HD1, History, Melody Zen and Luxe TV.

Since then, seven HD TV channels have been added:

· Belgacom 11 (three football matches per week in HD)
· één (VRT)
· Eurosport HD
· National Geographic HD
· TF1 HD
· France 2 HD
· and from 10 September: the vtm HD programs

This offer will be further expanded in the coming months.

Moreover, only Belgacom TV has a constantly growing offer of video on demand: it already has more than 70 movies, documentaries and concerts in HD quality in Flanders and Brussels, and more than 40 in Wallonia. This HD offer is exclusively available on Belgacom TV.

In concrete terms

At present, more than 50% of the Belgian population can obtain Belgacom TV in high definition, and 60% of Belgacom TV customers.

Customers must have a HD television set and HD decoder. The HD model has in fact become a standard model for all customers, and the rental of all decoders costs €6 per month. The decoder can also be purchased for €199. The one-time migration cost of €50 is free of charge in September, also for current Belgacom TV customers who have not yet acquired the necessary equipment.

The channels of the HD package can be viewed free of charge until 19 November, and videos on demand in HD are available from €5.50 per video.
