I have a regular EDPnet account, I haven't experienced a lot of downtime, almost none.
The support is very good, they respnd fast to e-mails
I haven't got an idea how long it takes to activate the service, I think you better contact them for it.

I have two accounts with them (transferred from the failed company ADSL2Fit) and haven't experienced any problems till now. Very stable connection and their administration is OK too.

About a month ago I switched from Skynet Plus to Edpnet Flexi start.
Service is very good (quick reply to e-mails, they know what they are talking about on the phone, ...)
I've had no downtime so far.
Speeds are good. (download is at it should be, upload is very good)
Activation of the line took about a week. (but I don't know if I'm a good reference for that, Belgacom had some trouble activating my phoneline -> I moved from Merchtem to Gent)
greetz,

So far, everything is correct.
Speed is good.
Support is good.
Invoices are correct.
The only problems i noticed are:
* The News Servers is rather slow the last few weeks ( between 30 and 80kb ).
* They had some problems with the DNS going down last week, but that wasn't there fault ( power failure where they hosted there DNS ).
For the rest, its one of the better providers ( even more so thanks to there Flex accounts with 50GB limit ).

Like tijger, I transfered from the failed A2F company and have to say this is the kind of service certain providers can only dream about.
from my experience:
- reply to tickets: I had a reply once within 45 minutes.
- administration: Requested a move that was almost impossible. Was movieng not only to another location but to a different phone number (old number wasn't mine, new isn't mine either) and was no problem. They really handle loyal custommers good.
- Invoices always correct.
- MyEDPNET works fantastic. Ugradeing, requesting extra options, etc... is easy and handled with absolute care.
Hope this helps a bit

I made the switch from Skynet to EDPnet one year ago. I've had nothing but good experiences with them.
The transition from one ISP to another went without a hitch, one day my old login didn't work anymore and the new one already did, so virtually no downtime. Also correct billing. No real downtime so far ...
If you're a heavy usenet user, you will need a seperate usenet subscription, the 10Gb on (capped) Giganews is good for basic use only.
For all other internet purposes, I think it's one of the better products around in the region (price/quality). Let's hope that their ADSL2+ product will be soon available here (at a not much higher price than the current products) ...
I recommend them to everyone I know (not a lot of people (outside userbase) know them by name), I would like to see more ISP's like them.

Very soon after I took a subscription, EDPnet could not provide a good connection. They told me it was because my telephone installation was not good. But it was not true and I have the conviction they knew very well it was not true.
Recently I got a letter from a layer asking me to pay a compensation of 372,38 Euros. But since they were unable to provide the service I paid for, they should pay me a compensation.

Always funny when someone else is blamed because of ignorance. Maybe try unplugging your phones, checking your ADSL-filters/splitters, check the cabling, check the modem, check the computer (yes spyware causes problems which often is described by users as "the computer is broken", let Belgacom check your line, etc. If that didn't work, consult with EDPnet for an advanced line test order to Belgacom. Most importantly, don't be a smartass and do what seems illogical. And THEN, you can blame EDPnet. But mostly about 99% of the complaints get solved before you get to testing the line

I got the visit of a technician of Belgacom. He told me that there was no problem with my phone instalation. But for EDPnet this technician was incompetent.

Problem solved. EDPnet cut the line. I got an upgrade from another ISP. Since then, +/- 4 month, no more problem.
I have a 30 A4 pages file. I am ready to show it to a trilingual competent informatician.

You'll be one of the rare cases then, which is unfortunate. This is the worst case of a ADSL related problem I have heard ever though

No offence, but when i hear Belgacom technicians & none Skynet ISP's, my heart stops moving. Its a general known fact that it's never Belgacom's fault. The detail that there are loos wire's in there phone box at the end of the street, well ... no, its the competing ISP's fault, Belgacom is always right, and there equipment is never at fault. Just go Skynet, and all will work perfectly, thats what they like to say.
That's the problem when you have the Phone/ADSL line provider & there own ISP. What better way to get customers by making it look like it's the competing ISP's fault, and your own hardware is not at fault.
Let me guess Libra, you are now at Skynet?
And if you think Belgacom technician's can't be incompetent, trust me, seen my fair share of not so bright ones ( they aren't all like it, but when you have bad luck, you get one of those
). When something is hardware related, you can be daim sure its a) the cable, b) the central, c) your modem. And your description looks way to much hardware related, something that is out of EDPnet's hands.

That's why I do not like Belgacom and as long I can, I avoid Belgacom.
Just go Skynet, and all will work perfectly, thats what they like to say.
That's what they told me but only after I was cut off by EDPnet. I did not take for granted what they told me and according to my phone bill, we talked for more than 10 minutes.

That is why I think Belgacom should not be a retailer.
Let me guess Libra, you are now at Skynet?
Did I have the choice?
And if you think Belgacom technician's can't be incompetent
I do not give myself the competence to judge. The fact is before I was customer of EDPnet, it works; after I was customer of EDPnet, it works.
By the way, do you need a lot of competence to use the devices used by the Belgacom technicians?

Yes, you always do. But it requires stepping on a few people there tows.

You can tell very easily if somebody is competent or not. But it does require a bit of nohow on the side of the customer. Because if you don't, they just dazzle you with fancy words, and after a minute, they have you eating out of there hand.
Most of the work is done by remote tools. In general they make a quick call to the central. They do a line test. If nothing shows up at there end, they place a small signal test device at your end ( or there own modems to rule out a dead or damaged modem ). And then its a mather of logical steps.
Most problems can be traced back to: faulty settings at the central or connections who gotten loos at the end of your street ( the connection box ).
Its happens a LOT that they make people wait for weeks for there ADSL connection when it's a other ISP, but when you take Skynet, suddenly it can be done in 2 days time. Same with problems. Seen to much the pong game. ISP -> Belgacom. Belgacom -> ISP. ISP -> Belgacom. And 80% of the time, its Belgacom. They fiddle a bit with the settings, and bingo, suddenly it works again. But you as the customer lost several days as a result.
Belgacom needs to be split off Skynet, but with the chicks we have here, that ain't going to happen ( and even more so because the state owns 50%+1 of Belgacom ).

People who are tired to be a ping pong ball between Belgacom and an alternative ISP or who do not want to wait weeks before being connected have no choice but Belgacom.

I agree. The entire Belgacom must be spilt into a retailer and a wholeseller.

Wait until you log your first case, then you'll see they set the real difference with other ISPs. Getting a line to work they all can, keeping it working, that's another thing.
