Iedere maand zie ik dit op een Synology…

Disk Reconnection Count: 86
Bad Sector Count: 0
Disk Re-identification Count: 0

Steeds diezelfde 86 reconnections… moet ik me hier zorgen om maken ?

Now I have completed the longer test I see the following in the Description area of the Health Info:

Disk Reconnection Count, Bad Sector Count and Disk Re-identification Count indicate the total quantity of events that have occurred on your disk or system. Your data are still safely stored on the disk. Although these parameters provide early warning and information about disk health trends, they do not directly imply imminent disk failure.

The system has tried to reconnect to the disk for 2 times. Disk Reconnection Count display the sum of S.M.A.R.T. Attribute “UItraDMA CRC Error Count” and other interface issues detected by the system. If this parameter increases abruptly compared to general tendency, it may indicate that the disk or some hardware components are aging.

Zolang hij Normal in de subject van de mail zet hoef je je nog geen zorgen te maken. Ooit gaan die disks wel sterven natuurlijk, maar er zijn dan nog geen indicaties dat het voor binnenkort zal zijn.

Het bizarre is dat het iedere maand exact 86 is... het is dus iets wat totaal niet afhankelijk is van de belasting of zelfs het aantal dagen ?

Dat is volgens mij gewoon een teller die alleen maar kan oplopen en niet gereset word na een bepaalde tijd. Als de teller elke maand hetzelfde blijft is er wel een probleem geweest maar doet het zich nu niet meer voor.

Je kan meer detail opvragen hier:

Is idd een totaal van de schijf op levensbasis, niet het totaal per maand. Als dat stabiel blijft is dat geen reden om zorgen te maken.

Als ik nog eens op bezoek ga, ga ik het nakijken... bedankt voor de tip.

(zou nog eens moeten kijken om de OpenVPN link tussen de Synology en m'n Mikrotik aan de praat te krijgen).
