Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable. So we are creating a new company, called Alphabet (
http://abc.xyz). I am really excited to be running Alphabet as CEO with help from my capable partner, Sergey, as President.
What is Alphabet? Alphabet is mostly a collection of companies. The largest of which, of course, is Google.

BMW is alvast niet van plan om alphabet.com aan Google te verkopen, en ze onderzoeken ook een eventuele inbreuk op de trademark:

The usual postering.
Zolang google/alphabet geen autoservices onder de alphabet naam aanbiedt zal er wss niet veel te klagen zijn.
Normaal kennen mensen de naam van parent companies zelfs niet, tis nu enkel omdat het google is dat het groot nieuws is.

Maar Google en BMW zijn op overlappende vlakken bezig:
- Zelfrijdende auto's (en waarom geen service waarbij je een zelfrijdende auto huurt...)

Alphabet is een zuiver financiële holding, geen merk:

Het verhaaltje over mogelijke "trademark infringement" heeft de journalist dus uit z'n duim gezogen om z'n gazet te vullen.
